Oregon Ducks school history in 2009, the Pac-10 Conference Track and Field Championships by sweeping both men and the women's title at first.

Washington Husky women, national champions in defending NCAA cross country, made their presence felt, and Katie Follett won the 1500 (4:26.62), Anita Campbell led 10,000 in more than a minute (34:13.27) and Marie Lawrence won the steeplechase 3,000 (9:54.13). Lawrence Campbell also took the 4th and 5th of 5000.

Charondas Williams of Arizona State doubled the 100 and 200, and as champion in both events, became the first woman to win the 100 and 200 on back to back years.

The men were duck no mood to waste time either. Andrew Wheating took the 800 in 1:49.83, winning by two hundredths of a second. Freshman Matthew Centrowitz won the 1,500 m in 3:51.00, ahead of his teammates Galen Rupp (3:51.18) and Wheating (3:51.27 and Oregon was 1-2-3.

Rupp won the 10,000 (29:01.73) ahead of teammate and runner Shadrack Biwott (29:03.47) as partners Team Danny Mercado and Diego Mercado were 7 and 8. Biwott was also a finalist in 5000 in 13:52.79, trailing by six hundredths of a second. Other winners included Chris Winter Ducks barriers in the 3000 (8:51.48), Cyrus Hostetler in the javelin (250-05), and Ashton Eaton in the decathlon (8091) as a partner Marshall Ackley (7337) was a finalist in a sweep 1-2.

Ahmad Rashad of Southern California has doubled over the 100 and 200, and Luis Rivera-Morales of Arizona has doubled in the long jump and triple jump. Washington Husky men appeared to comply and to Jordan Boase won the 400 (45.64), and Scott Roth took the pole vault (18-04.50).

For Oregon coach Vin Lananna, the Pac-10 conference championship was his 36th. Lananna secured his reputation as an exceptional coach, while leading Stanford to 5 NCAA titles and 17 Pac-10 Conference titles in cross country and track and field from 1992 to 2003.

Lananna continued success since his arrival in Oregon in 2005. His men's cross country team won two championships national in 2007 and 2008 and finalist team had a wife at the National University of Washington Huskies last year in the NCAA meet.
