What is the differance between graphite and steel shafts for golf clubs?
Steel rods are stronger, less prone damage, and is generally less expensive than graphite and are made of high carbon or stainless steel. Steel rods can give more control and place greater emphasis on the precision of distance - not to suffer from less torsional flexing than graphite. They require greater swing speed to generate the same distance as an axis of graphite. Most are of enhanced design, (you know when you see them) with the diameter of the tree is thinner with each step, but can also be found 'steel trees removed - which are supposed to be more precise. Graphite is generally more expensive than steel but much lighter (about 50% more light), which potentially allows for greater head speed and power. This is a major steel, but compared to the sacrifices of control due to bending of the shaft and the pair, and in some cases of contradiction between the trees - The quantity of this question depends on the tree. Graphite also absorbs vibration better than steel, so it tends to be less uncomfortable if you did not catch the ball softly.
